  • Same as when you are not pregnant -- lots of fruit and vegetables, lean meat if you are not a vegetarian -- you need protein. Be careful of tuna and other types of fish while you are pregnant though. Mercury is in a lot of it. That's not good for the baby or you. Lots of whole grains. Try to curb your sweet tooth. That one's hard, lol.. Eat small meals throughout the day. it keeps your metabolism up and (for me when I was pregnant) kept the morning sickness at bay. Try to stop or cut down on caffeinated beverages. Drink lots of water. Take your vitamins. If you want a slice of cake, have a slice of cake. It wont hurt now and then, I promise. : )

  • You want to avoid most artificial sweeteners that are in most diet drinks and drink mixes. Ones to avoid are aspartame and saccharin. You can find them on the ingredients labels. The only artificial sweetener that is recommended for pregnant women to use is splenda. Ask your ob for the lists of foods that are healthy for a pregnant woman to eat while pregnant. Also make sure to drink 3 or 4 glasses or bottles of water a day.
