What is a normal temperature for a 1 year old?

  • same as an adult.. 98.6 its ok if she is a little over

  • 98.6, but anything under 100.4 is still considered normal.

  • Remember, 98.6 is an average. How tall is the "average" woman? Is anyone not exactly that height "wrong"? No. The same is true for temperatures. Some people naturally are below 98.6 (they actually have a fever at 98.6) or are naturaly above it (they are perfectly healthy at 99.5).

    In general, don't worry about a fever. If your child is playing and acting normal, don't give her anything for a low grade fever.

  • 98.6 is the standard, but I would take your childs temp regularly even when you don't think they're sick to see what their "normal" is. Mine is usually at least 99...my dad's is around 97.5 and an old patient of mine used to vary between 93-94 with no medical explanation on why it was so low other than that was what was normal for him.
