    One could argue that his books are as "real" as the Bible is. Only more recent.

    So is the bible, hon.  So is the bible.  I am a fan of Arthur C. Clarke and many of life's truths get put into fictional books.  It makes it easier for people to digest them if they think "it was only a fictional book."
