Have you ever had an abnormal pap smear that turned out to be nothing?

...either an infection or something benign?

  • Actually believe it or not an abnormal pap smear turning out to be nothing is quite common. I had one.

  • I had an abnormal pap smear once. Was told to go back and get another one, and it came back completely normal.

  • Yes, I had one. Had to use some medication and went back three months later and it was normal.

  • I've had that happen twice. Both times a follow up gave me the all clear.

  • Thank you, ladies! That's good to hear. I'm sure I'll find out more after a re-test is done, but it's reassuring to hear that it's often nothing.

  • I've had them turn out to be nothing and, once, it turned out to be "something" that required 3 LEEP procedures. It's very common to have an abnormal pap be nothing serious.
