Has anyone here made red beet eggs?

I made some tonight and I put in the usual sugar, vinegar, beet juice, boiled eggs, and onions. However, I'm wondering if you add any spices or anything to make them more flavorful. If so, what?

For those of you that haven't had these, I know they sounds gross, but if you make them and let them chill for a day or two, they are so good! I got the recipe in an Amish cookbook. :)

  • I've had them and they are better than I thought they would be. My great grandma used to make them and your recipe is close to how she would make hers. She used cider vinegar instead of white vinegar and put whole cloves in the eggs or brine.
