Weird question about baby names and getting sued for millions lol

Can I get sued for naming my kids after characters in books? Because that's what I've done lol. They aren't every day names, either, they're pretty obviously copyrighted characters...

I didn't think about getting sued before I did it, and I'm not gonna change their names, just wondering if it's possible lol

  • I don't believe so. You are not marketing them as the actual characters, nor are you making money from your children portrayng those characters... I think you are safe :)

  • Mymesty, my daughter's name is Rhapsody after the character in Elizabeth Haydon's Symphony of the Ages series and my son's name is Imriel after the character Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series. His middle name (Leander) is also a name found in her series, but it's also a legitimate name lol.

  • I don't think so. I've named my animals after characters in movies and my daughter's middle name is after a character in a soap opera.
