  • Well my friend who is on the MD state police force tells me it is an unwritten quota. It is very low. Any one could accomplish it.

  • No- my dad is an officer and they ONLY have to write 1 a month. Anything additional is just extra state and local funds. In our city they were protesting the cuts and merges of the new mayor so they all only wrote 1 a month for 6 months... and they couldn't touch them... Now it is beneficial to write more and go to court for them because of the extra money they get to go to court. So unless you want to pay there overtime salary and court cost and your ticket, I wouldn't go to court unless you KNOW and CAN PROVE that you did nothing wrong, bc 9 times out of 10 they will show up! It is too lucrative not to.

  • no they do not. This is an old "wives tale". I have friends and neighbors that are police officers and they think it's hilarious that people actually beleive this :)
