Why do you have to join a CafeMom group to be able to post?

For instance, there was a newcomer group (of which I am not) supporting pancreatic cancer awareness. I wanted to post in support but I didn't want to join the newcomer group.

  • Primarily because most group owners don't like people who just come and read posts and that it's it. In many cases, it's to protect the members privacy and in other cases its because the group owners want active members, not the occasional guest.

  • You could always join and post your support answer and then just leave the group.

It's just the way it's set up. :-/

  • not all groups are set up that way. Mine doesn't require membership, of course it isn't a conversation hot bed either. The reason why membership is required is that page views are tracked by both member and non member views.
