  • No, you don't have to go, or place an order. With finances the way they are these days, people should understand.   However, if you want what is being sold, and can afford it, go and have a good time.  If you want to go and can't, or don't want to order anything, you are under no obligation to do so.

  • Like parties with people selling things? It is perfectly ok to not place an order... whether you go or not. There are sometimes that I don't order anything.

  • If you dont want to or cant afford to buy something, dont feel bad about declining. But if its a close friend and you want to go but cant afford to buy anything, just ask if its ok if you still go for the fun of it. Usually they like more people to be there, even if you dont make a purchase.

  • If I get invited to a product party and I KNOW I'm not going to order something, I politely decline the invitation. If I know the person pretty well, I will be honest and say I feel like I'm taking advantage going to their party when I know I can't afford to order anything. Sometimes, they say to come anyway, sometimes not. But at least by being honest, they know that maybe I'd be open to a future invitation.

If I go and then decide not to order (because I didn't see anything I liked, etc.) well, that's the cost of hosting a product party. I may feel bad, but not so bad I order something I don't like/want/need.

  • It's fine to decline. They don't expect everyone to make it. I have been to some where they say right up front not to feel pressured to order. But I always found it very uncomfortable unless it was a really big group.

  • i'm a pampered chef consultant and i always tell my hosts to invite everyone, even those who won't/don't buy... its just nice for people to get together and socialize and not feel pressured to buy... i've also gone to parties that i've told the host i won't be buying, but may consider hosting my own show later to earn things for free...

  • Yeah I just decline. If I go then I feel obligated to spend money.

  • It is more than OK to decline. I'd rather have someone decline than to show up and then not order.

  • I never go to those parties. I don't have fun at parties where I feel obliged to buy something.
