Is it possible to gain muscle weight in one workout session?

I've been avoiding sweets and losing weight slowly but steadily for about a month (like a pound a week, but it's something! Last weekend I celebrated my birthday and let myself have sweets for a few days. I didn't binge or anything. Been VERY strict since monday, and also avoiding bread. I worked out hard (well, hard for ME) on wednesday, and when I weighed today, I've GAINED 2 1/2 pounds since last week! What?!
