Is hand sanitizer safe during pregnancy?

I read that it's made up of 62% Ethyl Alcohol. Is that safe during early pregnancy (4 weeks)?

  • Not only is it safe...in my opinion it's practically necessary :P Your immune system and hormones are all out of whack during pregnancy, it's probably best to keep your hands clean so you don't get sick, especially during this cold and flu season xD

  • IMHO hand sanitizer is not safe at any time in your life. People that use it get sick more than others. Our bodies naturally build immunities to things we are exposed to, if we are not exposed we do not have those immunities and then if when you do encounter it, you get really sick from it.

  • its stupid when people say "oh just be dirty" thats dumb. you can build an immune system from other stuff. You need to keep clean, everyone does. Your hands are so germ infested. Using hand sanitizer is fine and good to use during pregnancy and recommended especially since our immune systems are so low and out of whack. Who wants e-coli and other nasty germs to be spread around?

  • It's safe, but it only washes about 50% of the germs off, if you have access to soap and water it knocks 90% of germs off.

  • Actually, its not safe period. There was something on the news about that and the antibacterial soaps being unhealthy and useless. Try to find the article on Yahoo.
