Campaign Contributions From Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac for Senator Barack Obama-Truth!

Campaign Contributions From Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac for Senator Barack Obama-Truth!

Summary of the eRumor:
An eRumor called the "Barack Obama's Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Connection" claiming that Senator Barack Obama ranked the number two spot in campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The Truth:
John Gibson of Fox News wrote an article by this title on September 16, 2008, quoting sources from the Center for Responsive Politics. In it, Gibson stated that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had used "huge lobbying budgets and political contributions to keep regulators off their backs." According to the article, "The top three U.S. senators getting big Fannie and Freddie political bucks were Democrats and No. 2 is Sen. Barack Obama."

  • I listen to Gibson all the time. He's awesome. Not surprised, I knew of this a long time ago because John speaks of it probably every other week on talk radio. Fannie and Freddie have been left out of the reform bills.

  • Not a question but I will add those fools who voted Barney Frank back in are ... well, fools. You needn't look much further then Frank to figure out why we are in this mess. Google, "Barney Frank admists wrong doing". He should have been fired.

  • You don't investigate your big contributors. Just like no investigation will be done by Democrats concerning unions.

  • They ought to start doing something about receiving all of these contributions. It's what makes our government corrupt and why our so-called leaders (Obama) are "bought."

  • I posted it because someone had a post the other day about how Fannie May and Freddie Mac ruined the housing market and why wasn't something being done about it. In light of the contributions given to Obama I find it really interesting that he has not addressed reforming or getting rid of either of them.
