EBAY or Craigslist?

Which in your opinion and personal experience, has more success in selling your stuff? P.S. I don't have" junk"to sell like a four leaf clover that looks like Elvis or a Barbie doll that's missing her clothes lol. I have real items that haven't even been used that are quite nice. Furniture that is in tip-top unused condition and things like that.

  • I do eBay. Let me say, it is a pain. It is extremely difficult with large items. And if you go through paypal (which ebay also owns) you get screwed :( Ebay takes a listing fee, final value fee cut, and paypal takes a 'money transfer' cut. Over all ends up being around 10% or more. Example, I sold a video game for my cousin. It sold for $95 dollars. After ebay and paypal fees he ended up with $79.00.
Ebay allows auctions, craigslist sells for a flat fee or best offer. Craigslist allows people to pick up the item (eliminating any shipping fees). They also can tell if they want the item right then or not, also eliminating the need to return the item.

In all, if its big furnature I would vote craigslist. But I wouldnt give them your phone number or have them meet you at your home (craigslist killer) . My brother listed his truck two weeks ago and had people calling him 2 -6 am just pranking him.

  • I vote Craigslist. It's free to post, and it's easy to use! If you don't know the ebay site, it can be pretty confusing. As I also agree, don't post your phone number, or have them meet you at your house. Meet in a public place, in the day. There are too many crazy tthings happening now these days.

    Goodluck (:

  • Ebay is more reputable... however, Craislist is far quicker and usually cheaper :oP

  • For big items I would sell on Craigslist, but I would probably go with Ebay for the little items that are easy to ship.
