  • MY 7 MONTH OLD STARTED THAT AT ABOUT 5 MONTHS. EVERYTIME SHE DOES IT! LIKE YOU SAID ONCE SHE'S BUCKLED WE'RE GOOD.

  • It may just be a separation anxiety thing, or that she simply doesn't want in the seat. I think both of mine went through a phase where they didn't like the seat either.

  • You might want to check the straps and make sure they arent to tight. She might be uncomfortable with the car seat.

  • She's old enough that she knows what it'll be like and understandably objects. I realize that car seats are accepted by mothers today, but just step back a moment. Babies truly NEED to move actively and freely. Their bodies and their brains are developing SO rapidly, mostly through MOVEMENT. Being clamped into one position is just like being inside a box. Try to understand this. As an adult, being able to SEE is all the freedom you need, but a baby NEEDS to move and wriggle about, to reach things and grasp them. Babies today are strapped down in one contraption after another, instead of being carried or held in a lap ! Keep to a minimum the times you strap her down, and make it for brief periods. The last thing you want is for her to get accustomed to being still. If a baby has given up on trying, THAT is very scary to anyone who has worked with brain-damaged babies and seen the dull stare and quiet limbs.

  • oops ! Not that the strapping down CREATES brain damage, just that an un-active baby LOOKS like brain damage.

  • Waldorf mom- Are you telling her to not use a carseat??? NOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE WITH BRAIN DAMAGE!!! A child MUST be in a carseat and RFing until ATLEAST 12 months and 20lbs, but its safest to RF to the carseats maximum limits, then a child should be harnessed in a car until atleast 65 lbs, its safer than an adult seat belt anyday.

OP-I found that soft toys attached to the carseat using links (link a dos) solved alot of issues when riding in the car.
