  • It's HCG. The same hormone that is produced by the embryo when you are pregnant. It is used to trigger ovulation 36-48 hours after you do the injection. Will it guarantee getting pregnant? No. Will it help you time an insemination? Yes. Are you doing an IUI? Did you do other fertility meds to help recruit more than one egg? More eggs, more chances of success.

  • Oh, and don't do a pregnancy test until at least 10 days have passed from the shot. You could get a false positive if it hasn't cleared your system.

  • I was taking clomid for a week. after tht i did the scan today. dr told me to get the injection today itself so i might be able to get pregnant with that egg.? is this true? will this work?

  • If you do the injection today, then the egg will be released. If the sperm do their job, there is a chance of getting pregnant. The reproductive system is a complicated one. Even though the egg is released, there are so many other things it has to go through to become a baby. Hang in there! It might happen! No guarantees though.
