  • no, but if you take them the week before your period, you will not be as tired....i have to take iron anyway b/c i'm anemic and i feel so much better when i do

  • In my case it was the other way around, well sort of. lol I had been feeling very tired with no energy, went to my Dr and she drew my blood and found that I was anemic due to my heavy periods. I am now taking iron pills and have not found that it affects my period.

  • Your friend should see a doctor then. I used to take iron supplements after I had my kids because I was borderline anemic but eventually I had to go off of them because I had too much iron in my system but it never stopped my menstrual cycle or affected it in a way.

  • i am iron deficient so i take iron almost daily...during my period i take 2 pills because i love more iron. i havent found any side effects from taking iron

  • No, but they will give you energy, and strength. You might get constipated though. Drink juice. =)
