When your teen had her/his first broken heart, did you cry too?

When, at 15, my daughter's boyfriend broke up with her, she was understandably crushed. But what surprised me was how much it hurt me to see/know how heartbroken she was. When your teen went through her/his first broken heart, did your heart break a little too?

  • Oh my word yes! I totally felt it with her. We hugged and cried...I cried because I could not stop this heartbreak or any other that would no doubt come. Hugs to you.

  • On the other side of this, me being the brokenhearted daughter, my mom was their too seemily just as brokenhearted as I was. She couldn't take the pain away, but I was glad she was there to hold me and cry with me. She even went a step further and tracked him down to have a "talk" with him. (they were pretty close)

  • both families were crushed and when i talk to her ex's mom or sister they still talk about how they wished the 2 could have worked things out and stayed together

  • Yes. I don't think any parent enjoys seeing their child hurt, weather it is physical or emotional. It still hurts us as mothers. I think most Moms can identify with a break-up . I just hated seeing my daughter cry...when she cries so do I.
