how do I cook baby carrots so they are soft

I can never seem to get soft baby carrots, they are always on the tougher side

  • I always simmer them with onions, a bit of sugar in the water as well on the stove top with the lid on....and letting some steam escape a little......they will turn out tender.....just have to cook them longer til you can cut them in half with a fork!

  • You just have to cook them longer. Also try putting a little sugar in the water, along with salt.

  • Try using regular carrots, baby carrots are just the middle part of bigger carrots and the middle part is tough. There is actually no such thing as a baby carrot.

  • well you know when you go to the produce section and there is a bag of baby carrots you can buy...well i have 2lbs of them and need to cook them but really soft or freeze them if that can be done

  • Steam them or boil them, I have done it before.
