Bishop: AIDS Is God's Will ~ What do you think of this one?

The head of Belgium's Catholic Church is in hot water for saying gay men deserve AIDS for the "travesty" that is homosexuality and that pedophile priests should go unpunished.

A gay rights lawyer is threatening legal action against Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard -- a close friend of the pope -- for saying AIDS is "justice" for gay men.

Leonard's press spokesman, Juergen Mettepenningen, has quit over the remarks, saying, "Monsignor Leonard at times acts like a motorist driving on the wrong side of a motorway who thinks all the other motorists are wrong."

That's all the article says, but wow! Seriously, WOW!
Is it me or does it seem like those who are supposed to represent the Catholic Church the most are the ones doing the most damage to it's Reputation?

  • That's why priests go after boys instead of full grown men. To avoid God's justice. :P

  • The monsignor truly believes this. He is mistaken because God doesn't want AIDS for anyone. However, he allows it because it is a consequence of choice.

  • God both allows the natural consequences of sin to occur, and also intentionally does things as a matter of punishment. As for AIDS, I can't say for sure if it is a natural consequence of sin (in general, not just homosexuality) or intentional.

Would a Father give a you a stone instead of bread , a a snake instead of a fish? ( its in Matthew 7)
God is not a giver of evil... evil is a consequence of sin.
aids is a consequence of wrong choices. It is brought upon man by man and the evil one will deceive in the process.
