What is a good age to get a kid their own puppy?

I don't expect my son to train the dog necessarily, just want him to have a fun companion. He loves our dog that we have now, but she is old and just doesn't want to play with him :).

  • I think maybe when you thinks he's ready.I wouldn't suggest at a early age,baby wise.Maybe 3 or 4.

  • Really it's up to you. Everyone will have opinions. All in all you will still have to help care for the dog. From experience little dogs are difficult with small children.

  • I think it really depends on the kid.

  • Ok, I know it depends on the kid, and ultimately it's my decision...but I'm wondering if you have a son at what age it would have been appropriate for him. Thanks!
