Yams or Sweet Potatoes? Which one is Better?

Does any one know the difference between yams and sweet potatoes nutritionally? I know they are different colors! I also know that they are actually from two different families, I just can't remember the difference?

  • Yams are different from sweet potatoes. You have orange and yellow sweet potatoes, but yams are an African vegetable that can grow to a hundred pounds. Yams look like big regular potatoes.
But you can use yam in any sweey potatoe recipe.

  • Americans mistakenly call sweet potatos yams. If you see "yams" in the super market, they're sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes arent potatoes at all actually.
