what are the signs of dehydration for an 8 month old......

im not sure if she is but she has had dirarea all day and has been very sleepy all day too.......

  • Our peditrician always told us the first sign of dehydration in a yound child is if when they cry, there is no tears.

  • dry mouth or no tears when she cries...have you been giving her pedilyte?
    when my oldest was 6 mth he got bad case of tummy flu....his eyes looked sunken and skin color was pale and also limp....he had to be hospitalized and be put on IV fluid....

  • I don't think tears has anything to do with it. my doctor said sometimes tears just don't come. Check for a sunken in soft spot.

  • Yes you can give her any tipe of electrolite drink. do this right away. my doctor told me if my son has the runs to give it to him.And when she told us that he was 2 months. it helps and they feel better.

  • Signs of dehydration:
    Dry mouth
    No tears
    No wet diapers or very little pee
    Lethargic (very sleepy)

    Give pedialyte
    Don't give any milk or juice which can make diarrhea worse
    If she just doesn't seem right to you the bring her in to the doctor... little ones can get very dehydrated quickly.
