How many of you are buying.....

more gift cards to certain stores for gift giving this year, moreso than actual gifts you've bought for family members, friends so they can choose what they like?

  • We came up with a great idea. With the cost of gas and food, one can always use a helping hand. So, instead if giving gifts that just sit or get discarded at the rummage sale, we are giving Albertsons/Safeway Grosary Store or Moble/Shell gas station gift cards. We also include a gift card for going out to eat. I give my husband a $25 one for coffee at McDonald's. This way he doesn't have to fumble for change going through the drive-thru. The kids I give 60 min gift cards so they can have more text time with their friends or time to call home when they need to. We've also given them ones to places where they can go indoor rock climbing or using the skateboarding center for a couple hours a week. There's one for Lazer games facility too. For girlfriends a spa gift card or to get nails painted one. Also, Movie gift cards. See what's available in your area. Hope this helps.

  • My family is big on gift cards. Sometimes I do specific store cards..sometimes I just do a loadable VISA. My son especially loves those. They can use them online, at hotels, out to eat, food.

  • if im spending a set amount and dont know what to buy, i do gift cards.. i try to stay away from them however, and find out what the person wants.. because some things go on sale.. some dont.. and w/ gift cards i end up using more money and losing sales!
