Time out Corner?

My son is 20 months old. For time out he gets sent to the corner. He really dont like it and it works other than he really likes to look around and yell (cry). My fience yells at him for doing it and makes him stand there until he stops whigning. Do you think thats okay? Or should we be okay with him whigning as long as he stands there? Also what about the looking around thing? Should we allow it or no? Thank you!

  • we started 'time out' with our son around a year. since he wasnt old enough to really understand the concept of it we just sat him in a pack 'n play and tried not to pay much attention to him so he could learn what he did was wrong. Dont get mad at him for crying, because even negative attention is still attention and thats what your son is trying to get from you by crying. Don't give him toys or anything to play with but I don't think letting him look around will hurt anything. Try not to yell and tell your fiance the same. You want to use more positive parenting. Good Luck =D

  • if its more of like a wimpering cry i would let him get away with tthat, but if its like a screaming cry then no...he can still be in the corner..but timeouts dont officially start til he calms down..
