so we have to go donate blood

cause were low on funds. i'm sure there are some things that prevent you being able to do this. on their site though i can't find the answers. everything just leads to donation place. can we donate blood if my husband has psoriasis and i weigh only 105 and haven't stopped breast feeding. although i can as my baby will be 12 months on the 11 and planned on stopping then. any thing else that would keep us from being able to?

  • Are you talking about donating plasma? Can you call the place first to ask these questions?

Answer by KTMOM at 10:03 AM on Nov. 8, 2010

  • Plasma is paid for, blood is usually only by donation, and no you cannot be breast feeding or weigh less than 115 lbs!

  • as far as I know if you have been out of the usa within the last 12 months. And probably some other things I dont know.

  • If you've travelled to any number of foreign destinations--one of them is a certain part of Mexico--they don't want your blood.

Are you getting paid for your blood or your plasma? They might have different requirements...

    Good luck!
