obligated relatives?

I just saw a post that made me think of this-
when I turned 21 my younger sister came to me and told me what kind of liqueur she wanted me to get for her.
I then informed her that I had no intention of buying for her. (keep in mind that she only had about 2 1/2 years before she could buy herself. )
she pitched a fit, claiming that she had waited years for me to be old enough, so I HAD to buy for her.
would you believe this moron actually went and complained to our mom that I was refusing to buy for her?
always makes me chuckle

  • There is no way I would buy alcohol for a minor. I am amazed that anyone would expect you to (or that people would support your sister in this). Craziness.

  • It would have been funny watching your mom's reaction to her complaint.

  • What the?!?! does she not know the legal repercussions that could happen if you did this for her and something happened to her?! Selfish!
    What did your mom say?

that was EXACTLY why I had no intentions of buying for her- I could just see her getting behind the wheel to say the least!
my mom's reaction:"what!?" out of shock, then she proceeded to tell my sister that if I didn't want to buy for her I certainly didn't have to! all the while you could tel she was choking back the laughter.
she later came to me and said that she admired my judgment!
