if you ever applied for FAFSA and a military spouse please help

these are the two questions that are bugging me.
1) What was your (and your spouse's) adjusted gross income for 2009? Enter the amount of your (and your spouse’s) adjusted gross income (AGI) in 2009.

2) Enter the amount of your (and your spouse's) income tax for 2009 ?

For the number 1 question it says look at Line 21 on the 1040A form which is what we have and it has the total. but for line 35 on the 1040A form it has a zero. what im confused on is do i put a zero on the enter the amount of your and your spouses income tax? what is the difference on the questions. i dont get it. i dont work but he does (army) so what do i put? i put in the adjusted gross income twice in those questions and it told me "You reported that the student paid the same amount or more in taxes than his/her Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). Change AGI or Taxes Paid to the correct amount"

  • I have been filling out the fafsa since 2001 as a military spouse. Some of the answers on the form will be 0. Just follow the line numbers and you will be fine. If there happens to be a problem your schools financial aide office/fafsa will contact you.
