What does Single mean to you?

it means not married to me.

but some people get confused and think it means no SO, either. Having an SO still means your single, just not available.

I was out with my Sis recently and some guy gave her grief about it. "Says your single" Yes, she's not married! hence, she's single" Totally threw him. Dunno why. Was wondering if thats common

  • Single, not married, not in a serious relationship. Taken would be serious relationship. Saying you're single is misleading.

  • Well, I think you are a special lady :-D

Jealousy is a huge problem in our culture and therefore when you're 'dating' a person it often means that you are not single unless you have spoken to the dater you are dating about your idea of what single is. Most of the time people agree that dating a person is monogamous. To each their own though right?

  • when you file your taxes or apply for work, what do you file as?

Single or Married? Your either married or you aren't. Thats how I see it. There is no option for "Not single but not married, either"

  • I see what you ladies are saying, but when you filling out a questionnaire online or something like that and there's only the option to put "single, married, divorced, separated".... obviously she'd put single.

There is rarely rarely ever an option on forms of any type that ask if you are dating or engaged. Maybe they should and that would take care of some of the confusion. As such the only option is to check 'single'.

  • Because you don't file your taxes "in a relationship"
