  • My boys never went to an actual optomologist until a little over a year ago. They had the standard eye exams with their pediatrician. Come to find out one of my boys is nearly blind...he'd been going through his entire school years not being able to read or spell (he's 12). I'd recommend as early as possible I guess...if I had it to do again I'd have done it at 4 or 5 years old.

  • My pediatrician does an eye exam during yearly physicals. I'm guessing they would send me to an eye doctor if they failed the test done in the office.

  • I think they did the first one at age 3.

  • Our Peds does them at their yearly as well, they start at 2... IF they seem to be having an issue they will do them sooner.

  • When the kids had eye tests in school, if the teacher sent home a note about their vision I would take them to the optometrist to check things out further just to ensure that there was no real problem developing.
