  • Warm up some olive oil and garlic. Make sure it isn't too hot and put it in the ear. Tug on the ear gently to help it get in there and after about 15 minutes switch sides. Rest a warm cloth on a towel and put the non oil ear on it while the oiled ear is being treated.

  • My mother always used vegetable oil and black pepper to treat my swimmer's ear. Warm a tablespoon full of oil over a match, but don't get it too hot. Add a dash or two of pepper and gently pour it in. Like BluDog says, tug on the ear to get the oil to get all the way in.

The downside to using pepper is that there are always a few crumbs left after you drain your ear,..

  • Best to have her checked to make sure there is not infection in the ear. If there is, she needs prescription medicine to clear that up. If it's not an infection, there is a product called Sweet Oil that can be effective.

  • go see your doctor. i dont mess around with ear aches...but one thing i learned is sometimes if you have a sinus infection or a bad head cold...the ear can ache from the sinus pressure but not an infection. motrin for pain. maybe warm water bottle for ache. GL

  • Don't play around with an ear infection. Once you know that it is not an infection, there are ear drops sold at the drugstore. My husband says they really work.
