In hand quilting: How do I finish off a thread I am using before starting another one. I am looking for a way to securely end it not just run it between fabrics.

  • You knot the end and then run your needle and thread between the layers, coming up through the top again and pop it between the layers, then trim the extra thread. Clear as mud? LOL

It should definitely be knotted and hidden in the middle to secure it, then start anew with a fresh thread and quilter's knot to start the next section.

  • Thank you! It is clearer than mud, it makes perfect sense. Now I know what to do!
