can you use other fruits to make crisp besides apple...which ones?

  • apple cranberry crisp
    I used a mix of large golden delicious apples & Granny Smith apples, & 5 apples was enough.
    •6 tart apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (5 if the apples are large)
    •1 1/4 cups chopped cranberries (about 1 1/2 cups whole cranberries)
    •2/3 cup granulated sugar
    •3/4 cup rolled oats, quick or regular
    •1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
    •1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    •1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    •6 tablespoons cold butter, cut in small pieces
    •1/2 cup chopped pecans
    Mix filling ingredients together; spoon into a lightly buttered 11x7x2-inch baking dish.
    In a mixing bowl, combine oats, br sugar, cinnamon, & flour. Cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs form. Stir in pecans. Sprinkle topping evenly over fruit and press down lightly. Bake at 375° for about 30 to 35 minutes, or until topping is browned & fru

    Original Recipe Yield 1 - 7x11 inch baking dish
    3 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced 4 fresh peaches - peeled, pitted and sliced 1 banana, sliced 1/2 cup raisins 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup rolled oats 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 pinch salt 1/4 cup butter
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). .
    Combine apples, peaches, banana, raisins and water in a 7x11 baking dish.
    In medium bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Cut in butter with two knives or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over fruit.
    Bake in preheated oven 35 to 45 minutes, until topping starts to brown. Serve warm

    Original Recipe Yield 18 servings
    1 1/2 cups fresh blackberries 1 1/2 cups fresh raspberries 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries 4 tablespoons white sugar 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 cups rolled oats 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 1/2 cups butter
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    In a large bowl, gently toss together blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and white sugar; set aside.
    In a separate large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press half of mixture in the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Cover with berries. Sprinkle remaining crumble mixture over the berries.
    Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until fruit is bubbly and topping is golden brown.

  • Ginger pear crisp recipe is an easy dessert with canned or fresh pears, brown sugar, gingersnap crumbs, and a little butter.
    •1 1/2 cups gingersnap crumbs
    •1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
    •1/4 teaspoon salt
    •1/4 cup butter, melted
    •3 peeled ripe pears, cut in half, or use 1 can (28 ounces), drained
    •1 tablespoon lemon juice
    Mix together the crumbs, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter. Place half of the crumb mixture into a buttered 8-inch round baking dish. Place pears on the crumb layer, cut side up. Sprinkle with lemon juice and remaining crumbs. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
    Ginger Pear Crisp serves 6.

  • Rhubarb crisp is a delicious dessert, made with a rolled oats and butter and cinnamon topping.
    Cook Time: 55 minutes
    Total Time: 55 minutesIngredients:
    •1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
    •1 cup all-purpose flour
    •3/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats
    •1/2 cup melted butter
    •1 teaspoon cinnamon
    •4 cups sliced rhubarb
    •1 cup granulated sugar
    •2 tablespoons cornstarch
    •1 cup water
    •1 teaspoon vanilla
    In mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, butter and cinnamon; mix together until crumbly. Press half of the brown sugar and oats mixture into a buttered 8-inch square baking dish. Top with the sliced rhubarb.
    In a saucepan combine 1 cup granulated sugar, cornstarch, and the 1 cup of water and vanilla. Cook together until clear, then pour over rhubarb.
    Top rhubarb with remaining crumb mixture & bake at 350° for 45 to 55 minutes
