S/O of foodstamp question..Why do people always assume that everything a person buys in a store is for them? adult content

I'm on foodstamps.. I don't drink.. but sometimes my mom asked me to pick her up some beer!.. But some judgmental assholes would ASSUME that it is mine! Mind your business and live your life & quit worrying about everyone elses!

  • people should know that you're not using your FS for beer, it's not even permitted, atleast in my state. alcohol and cigs are not accepted on FS here where i live. so if i was being a nosy bitch at the store and saw someone with a FS card and some beer, i would not be stupid enough to assume that they were paying for it with FS because the transaction would not go through!

  • Like I said before, I don't mouthbreathe over someone else's transaction. I read a magazine and enjoy my alone time. I've bought beer for my husband when I was very pregnant and I could feel the daggers of judgement piercing me in the back. Half the crap food in my cart is for my husband because I don't eat a lot of junk food and he's an oreo addict. I do drink coke. But really, I do not pay attention to what is in someone else's cart at the checkout lane or throughout the store.

  • I agree with you, I have food stamps for my mom's food and I get dirty looks too.

  • In some states, when people take in Foster kids, it makes them eligible for food stamps as well. I don't see why that family should then shop differently than they normally do. Should they not buy steak like they would because they are doing something good?

I don't smoke, but my mom has had me pick up cigarettes for her several times when I went to the store.
