  • An human authority on earth is in a place of authority because of God's ordanation. We are only to obey human authority (or civil law) so long as we are not commanded to do what God forbids, or forbidden to do what God commands.

  • We are to first come under God's authority before man's. But as the others have said we are also to obey the laws of the land providing they do not conflict with God's law. As Christians we are to be good citizens as part of our obedience to God.

  • on the surface, my understanding is that if the 'human authority' goes against what the Word of God teaches for His followers, then you must hold true to your faith's teaching. however, scripture also tells xtians to 'render unto Ceasar'..IMO, meaning to follow the law of the land. we have laws as citizens we must obey..laws, hopefully, for the better good of all humankind..which goes along with God's laws, IMO.

kind of skewed..if you're looking at it from a 'earthly' perspective.

  • I'm going to try my best at answering this question: while here on earth we should obey the laws that Man has in place for our safety and our welfare but at the end of day we should still obey God's law simply b/c He's the beginner and finisher of life and He is also preparing us a place up in Heaven where we all, if we've lived our lives right, live with Him. Man cannot gurantee us a home up in Heaven only God can.

  • Why do people insist on plucking out one verse from an entire chapter to make it meet their agenda. The entire chapter speaks of events leading to the Apostles arrest for Teaching of the Lord Jesus, Their arrest, them being set free by the Angels of the Lord and them being questioned for their actions of which they reply: 29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! 30 The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross. 31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins. 32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
