white tongue.. 4yo

I noticed a few days ago my dd (4yo) had a very white tongue. so i made sure to scrub her tongue very good that night... its been about 3 days & tonight her tongue is very white again..
anyones kid had this?

  • Is she drinking enough water? More than likely it is some kind of fungi related thing, but it never hurts to have them drink more. Maybe you could also up the times she brushes teeth and tongue? Does she use mouthwash? I dont use any of my kid, even the kids one make me a tiny bit nervous

  • It sounds like thrush, which is basically a yeast infection in the mouth. It's actually quite common and can be cured with antibiotics. I'd definitely take her to the doctor though.

  • lacking water may be possible... Ive looked at pictures of thrush & its not THAT nasty...its more of a film not a growth... so after reading around online we are going to up the water, cut back on the carbs/processed foods/candy (halloween!) and brush more & focus a bit more on her tongue..
    No insurance right now, so i dont want a $50+ dr. visit to tell me she just needs more time spend on brushing her tongue!
