I need to know how to start a compost pile..

Can you help me? I have a big tub that I am going to put stuff into. What do I start with? What is def. out?

  • Remember not to add any toxic plants - poinsettias, oleanders, etc.

  • i have compost pile, we put food scraps there and leaves, we turn it every few months

  • I know you can start with newspaper and dirt. It's good to have worms for airation.

  • leaves, grass clipping (that aren't treated with weed killers), sawdust (from non treated wood), any non-meat food scraps, including egg shells, coffee grinds & filters, newspaper (not the shiny ads), and some add dirt and worms, though I don't
