sore arms from iv

I had 2 get iv fluid today, i have very small veins and the nurse blew 2 veins trying to get the iv in. now i have very big painful bruises in my hand and wrist, what can i do for the pain? can i ice it.. or heat pad? or what would help?

  • Ice for the first 24, then warm, moist heat. Ice it 20 mins on, 20 mins off. Tylenol wouldn't hurt either.

  • I would do ice to try to numb it. Maybe some aspirin or pain reliver might help. Just try and not to bump the sore spots on your arm. take care and hope all it okay. Relax your arms with to sore.

  • In addition to putting ice on it, try arnica cream... you can get it at a health store like vitamin world or GNC... it will reduce both the pain and the bruising.
