How do you calm yourself down when you find yourself getting overly frustrated with your children?

  • I walk away. Take a breather then come back when I'm calm. If more people walked away their would be less abuse whether it be by mistake or uncontrollable.

  • Deep breathing works for me. Or if I know they are safe I will go outside for a minute or two for fresh air.

  • just go through the motion and wait like for me right now my kids are driving me nuts but I am patiently waiting for 9:00 that is their bedtime and then I can relax all by myself hubby is working nights aahhh!!! come on 9:00 whoohoo! Don't soon they too will be in bed. GL

  • I put my son in his play pen, where I know he cant get hurt or get into anything. Then I just walk away and let him cry until Im calm enough to pick him up and try calming him down again.

  • it may sound crazy but i take a time out....i will literally go too my room shut the door and set my alarm for 10 mins.....if i need too cry i do so then i take a deep breath and try again.

  • when it gets really bad, i will put them somewhere in a safe place in the house (strapped into high chair or in the crib) and i go into the bathroom put the lid down on the toilet and just breathe for 5 minutes. i also put mine to bed pretty early (oldest is in bed by 720pm) so i can have some me time in the evening, yes it means they get up a little earlier, but i love that time after they go to bed when i can sit and read or eat a snack without having to give half of it to someone
