how can i get my one year old to stop biting?

my one year old son has ten teeth and he likes to bite a lot. he bites me all the time and everywhere he can. he bites hard enough to leave bruises. i've tried telling him no numerous times but he just laughs. i know he's too young to smack his hand. since he won't understand why he's getting his hand smacked. any suggestions?

  • I know people will say this is cruel but I was actually told by WIC it was a good idea. When my son was about 10 months old he tried with the biting. I bit him back, not hard just enough it got his attention, he didnt even cry. But he NEVER bit me again or anyone else.

  • My twins started this a while back. I put a stop to it with positive reinforcement. When they started to bite I said "no" really loud and with a very serious face. When they stopped, I immediately said "good girl" and gave a ton of hugs/kisses. Kids thrive on their parents approval and to me this is an under used way of handling child issues. My twins are funny because when they do well now they say "good girl" to themselves.
