  • I am a teacher. I teach them coping skills. I teach them that life isn't always fair, but you need to just to the best for the situation that you are in. I teach them it's not ok to be a bully. I teach them that people are going to piss you off sometimes, but you just have to learn to ignore them. I teach them that you aren't going to like every one you meet, but you don't need to be nasty to them either. I teach them so much more than reading, math, social studies, science and language arts.

  • an actual class...
    id love to teach health/gym...
it is terribly sad where the health of our kids are going..

When i was in health they just did text book stuff.. I didnt learn that much & wish our teacher would have spent more time on nutrition!
(im always thinking about going into teaching, but being head of a class of 20+ students scares me! !)

  • an incomplete list:
world history, chronologically, the classical approach
    computer literacy
basic home skills: cooking, cleaning, gardening, home maintenance
life skills: balancing a checkbook, filling out tax forms, job applications, resume and interviewing skills
for P.E., that fitness is for everyone, not just jocks and that there are solitary and non-competitive forms of excercise
    cultural literacy
civics, the responsibility of being an educated voter and paying attention to current events and participating in our democracy
    smart consumer skills (including media)
for art: drawing on the right side of the brain (basically, that anyone with the manual dexterity to tie their shoes can draw a realistic likeness of objects and people)
