about how much do you get for a child dependent when you file your income taxes???

  • Depends on if you're married or not. A single parent can claim head of household and receive $3,500 for one kid. I don't know what it is more more than 1 kid. Married I believe it's $1,000 per child when claiming head of household.

  • 1,000 unless it has changed since last year. They try every year to drop it to 500.

  • "If you have children who are under 17 at the end of the tax year, you can claim the child tax credit for 2010 and get a $1,000 tax credit per child on your tax return."

  • 1000 and there is the earned income credit (welfare credit actually) Hopefully, both will be gone when the Bush tax cuts expire.
