Do you give to the salvation army bell ringers?

I do sometimes, but if I gave money to everyone who asks, I would not have any.

  • My Hubs does a few times at christmas just a few singles. Mainly because we have used their services many years ago for groceries when we both were unemployed.

  • No. I don't. I have charities that I support, they simply aren't one of them.

  • Does anyone know if this is true? That those bell ringers are NOT volunteers? They actually either get paid, or a percentage of the donations? I thought I heard that somewhere, but not sure. Can anyone confirm?

  • Salvation Army is on my list as a charitable organization that I give material things to. I do not give them money. There are however, a number of other charities that I do send checks to. I never give my "loose change" to any group...I first want to know WHERE the money is going, and what percentage actually gets to the intended recipients.
