Doesn't the second trimester start at the end of the 12th week?

This pregnancy calender said "congrats you are in your second trimester" but I'm just 12 weeks....

  • Yep. Most of the websites say you are in your second trimester at 13 weeks. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fetal-development/PR00113

  • Some say 12 or 13, and some say 14. It depends whether they are looking at gestational developments or simply trying to divide the trimesters as easily as possible by three. This bugged me a little when I was pregnant too, but like they say in the link below--doctors talk about weeks not months or trimesters anyway so it's not a big deal. From 14-28 weeks is generally considered the 2nd trimester.

  • I go by months. Second trimester starts 6 months before your due date. Third trimester starts 3 months before.
