  • How long she has been doing daycare? Does she have CPR certification? How many children are in the home? What is the adult/child ratio (in my state you have to have 1 adult per 6 children). Does she have references? Is she licensed? Does she provide food or will you have to? What kinds of activities does she do with the children? Does she have age-appropriate toys and activities?

Of course you want to ask rates and rules and pick up times and all of that too.

  • Sick day policy
Do visitors come to the house?

  • Among the things already listed, I'd also ask for a list of references (preferrably at least 5 or more referrences) and I'd check on them and ask them their opinions (pros and cons according to their experiences). I'd also see about doing a background check on them as well as anyone who regularly visits their home. I'd also be sure to observe the other children's interacations with and demeanor toward them... perhaps requesting that you are allowed to give a "trial run" by staying and getting to know them and your child/ren getting to know them for a couple of hours on a given day (prescheduled) then you can get a good "feel" for things. If you feel uneasy, that would be a red flag that this isn't a good/safe place for your child/ren.

Any religious, educational or food expectations (ie vegatarian, Kosher ect)
    First Aid Kit?
    Fire Exstingisher?
What issues are there with other kids they care for?
Do the other parents interact with kids that are not theirs?
