I think it's impossible to tell which way the baby is lying by bumps and kicks. What you think is a foot could very well be an elbow. If you are concerned about baby being breech, ask for an ultrasound- but not til the very end because there is a good chance baby will still flip.
The baby cant really move his hands too much and if he can not that strongly. The movement you feel that hardest is where the feet are. If you feel more movement on top at the ribs, then hes head down.
