We are stumped about a gift for my 13 year old niece

My mom has just this one granddaughter, but they live 1100 miles away and we've only seen her about 5 times, so we don't know her well. She loves horses. Last year we got her a horse-motif bedroom set, a horse blanket for the horse she "rents', and some books. In the past mom has sent a check, but it never gets cashed, it gets lost (including the one for her last birthday). We are trying to think of SOMEthing. For her 16 year old brother we got a gas card and stuff for his car.
Any ideas????

  • My daughter loves her horse. If you feel the need to give her a gift (how nice of you) then call an equine store or catalog near her or on the net and get a gift card to that and let her pick out her own stuff.
OTOH I know my daughter would love any horsey stuff. So I would get her riding socks, they are thin and like knee socks, new riding gloves, (leather or cotton ones) a helmet cover, my daughter loves polos' to ride in the ones with collars, so get some cute ones. If you can find out her size get her some cool riding jeans or winter riding pants that are like fleece on the inside. They are insulated. I could go on and on.
The riding catalog that my daughter loves is Dover Saddlery http://www.doversaddlery.com/?TID=Google-T&EID=X1803414&gclid=CO6dh4PRoKUCFdV95QodjR3PHQ
She also loves carrots the brand of riding wear.. They are cute and fun. Good luck, if you need more help pm me.

  • Just a gift card. Maybe to aeropostale or american eagle. Or if she really likes music too an Itunes gift card.

  • i guess it depends on the girl, but i would think you can go wrong with a gift card for a clothes store or maybe you can just call and see what she wants.

  • Maybe a purse so something to carry her stuff when goes shopping with parents. Rods western wear has some cool shirts. We just got one for our 9 year old. What about a movie pass? A gift card to get something to eat when maybe out with friends. Hope that helps some.

  • Pay the rental on her horse for the value you wanted to send her...or buy her the horse

  • I would just send her a gift card, and if I didn't hear back I wouldn't send anything else! She should be in touch with her grandmother, and have dropped some hints by now! My granddaughter lives 1100 miles away too, and I talk to her 4-5 times a week, know what music she listens to, and I know what kind of clothes she wears. And usually I send her a gift card, because like her grandma, she loves to shop!
