how to make home made clay/play doh that can dry into ornaments?

My daughter is almost 3 and loves doing crafts, so for Christmas I thought it would be fun if she made ornaments for people for Christmas to give as gifts. I remember doing them as kids, where you could make the clay with normal house hold ingredients like flour, and we would bake them after we were done, but for that was years ago and at a sitters house that we did that, so I have NO idea what we used to make them. Any ideas would be great.
