chocolate frosting from scratch- should I let it set?

I'm making a chocolate cake from scratch, but I'm making frosting from scratch as well, never done it before.

Does anyone know if it spreads better right after you mix it, or will it spread OK if I make it ahead of time?

  • Spread it right after you mix it. It may form a crust on top in the mixing bowl otherwise.
