cut or color first?

is it healthier for you hair to cut or color it first? I am not cutting off a lot of hair just want to do whats best for it. Posted a few days ago and got about a 50/50 so thought id try a new group.... Thanks

  • It doesn't really matter but if you are taking a lot of hair off, you should cut it first to save the money of the additional coloring.

    Since you aren't cutting off much, you can color it first and then cut it.

  • When I had mine done in the salon they would color first then cut-- as I generally was just having a trim, and not taking a lot off or altering the style.

  • i used to cut first.. thinking it'd be smarter money wise.. but hair health wise it's not so smart. since dyes essentially damage your hair you need to dye first and than cut because you're cutting off the ends that are split. if u cut first and then color you'd be damaging those ends all over again. so color first.. then cut

  • I think the proper way is to color, the cut. I think, though I should know my mom is a hair dresser.
