When did you start getting external exams to check dialation?

I'm 35 1/2 weeks along and haven't been checked yet to see if I'm dilated at all. I think I'm at least 1cm (TMI but I think so because the bedroom olympics feels different, could be wrong.) When were you checked?

  • Around 37 weeks when Dr was going on vaca for a week, just to see. Otherwise, I preferred not to be checked. It's not comfortable.

  • You don't have to be checked at ALL!!! Dilation doesn't mean much anyway. You can be 3 cm or more for WEEKS!!!! Labor will start and that is the only way to really know it is time. That being said, with my last, the doctor checked me at 38 weeks because she thought I wanted to know. If I knew then, what I knew now, I would have skipped being checked altogether!
